Sochi 2014 Winter Olympics Schedule (Draft)

Today marks 40 days to go until the start of the XXII Olympic Winter Games in Sochi, Russia. With the Games fast approaching its time to take at look at what Australia’s official Olympics broadcaster the Ten Network (Ten) will be offering Australian viewers.

Ten will deliver its coverage across its various platforms, including its primary channel TEN, channel ONE HD and its new online platform TenPlay.
Ten will broadcast over 360 hours of live coverage (there will be 24 hour coverage on ONE), including the opening and closing ceremonies. It will have more than 550 hours of coverage in total. Also, similar to Foxtel’s coverage of the London Summer Olympics in 2012, Ten will have eight dedicated channels online on TenPlay.

Ten’s Olympic programming will include:

  • Sochi Tonight (nightly at 6pm) – hosted from Ten’s Melbourne studio by Stephen Quartermain and Alisa Camplin OAM.
  • Sochi Live (evening) – hosted by Mel McLaughlin at Olympic Park in Sochi and Stephen Quartermain and Alisa Camplin in Melbourne.
  • Sochi Live (overnight) - Brad McEwan takes over the helm of Sochi Live, with live coverage running right through until 5.30am (plus extended coverage on weekends).
  • ONE will have 24-hour coverage of the Games. From 6.00pm to 6.00am on ONE, Greg Rust and Nicole Livingstone will present live coverage, giving viewers the opportunity to watch their favourite Winter Olympic events. Then right through each day, ONE will encore all of the best highlights, action and medals from overnight in Sochi.

Joining Ten’s commentary team for the Games includes Olympic Winter Games Gold medallists Steven Bradbury and Alisa Camplin, Steven Lee, Mitch Tomlinson, Steph Hickey, Mark Howard, Nuala Hafner, Matt Doran, Magdalena Roze, Danielle Isdale and Scott Mackinnon.

  • TEN Eyewitness News will feature up-to-the-minute coverage from presenters in Sochi including Scott Mackinnon, Matt Doran, Melinda Nucifora and Max Futcher.
With strong ratings for Ten’s coverage of the KFC Big Bash League, the platform is set for Ten to generate strong ratings with its Olympics coverage. Hamish McLennan has bet a lot on sports programming to regenerate Ten’s ratings and advertising revenue share. Given the early success of the BBL on Ten, 2014 is looking good for Ten and the Winter Olympics coverage from February 7 (Feb 8 in Australia)

2013 Champions League T20 LIVE - TEN and ONE

Game 1 - Rajasthan Royal V Mumbai Indians
See the exclusively LIVE action from 10.30pm in the opener of the 2013 series. It follows Formula One on ONE straight afterwards which will be held in under lights at Singapore. ONE previously broadcasted it back in 2010, which it was a 24/7 sport channel from 2009-2011. After a dispute with BCCI, meant it was no longer available to them which they were the current broadcasters of IPL back then.

Game 2 - Brisbane Heat V Trinidad and Tobago
See the REPLAYED action in India straight after F1 LIVE from Singapore. The coverage will begin at around 10.20pm with ONE joining straight after it finishes. The F1 race is a timed race as it will hit at 10pm local by the time the race finishes which is 10pm in Perth, 11.30pm in Adelaide and 12am on the eastern seaboard.

Game 3 - Chennai Super Kings V Titans
See all the REPLAYED action on TEN, as soon as the REPLAYED coverage finishes at around 2am. Formula One is a REPLAY of the earlier broadcast that you will see on ONE in prime time. With hosts of Greg Rust, Daryl Beattie and Alan Jones who will be anchoring TEN's broadcast of F1 LIVE

Game 4 - Brisbane Heat V Titans
See all of the LIVE action on ONE from 9pm. After a disastrous lost against T&T. Will they bounce back and remain in the hunt for a top 2 spot for the finals.

Game 5 - Trinidad and Tobago V Sunrisers Hyderabad
See all the REPLAYED action on ONE at 1am. After a win against Brisbane Heat could they win against Dale Steyn's team? This is unlikely that T&T will win against the fast bowler's team.

Game 6 - Perth Scorchers V Otago Volts
See all the LIVE action on ONE from 6.30pm (in prime time). It was wash out for the opener of the Scorchers CLT20 campaign. It will be interesting to see how they go in the lead up to BBL which will be LIVE on TEN in the summer which will go head to head with Seven's LIVE coverage of Australian Open and Nine's Summer of Cricket LIVE

Game 7 - Mumbai Indians V Highveld Lions
The game will be shown LIVE on ONE at 10.20pm, just minutes after the Scorchers game finishes. ONE won't be sending their own commentary team, instead they will get the local broadcasters who are hosting the event to commentate on their behalf.

Game 8 - Chennai Super Kings V Sunrisers Hyderabad
The game won't be LIVE on ONE, but the game will be at 12am Perth time. It is Mike Hussey V Dale Steyn. TEN's broadcast of the 2013-14 BBL comemnces December 20 LIVE on TEN. Following the BBL will be the 2014 Winter Olympics which will be LIVE on ONE and TEN.

Game 9 - Lions V Mumbai Indians
The match is LIVE on ONE right around the country from 12.20am AEST. The series is drawing to a near end of the series, which CLT20 is a warm up practice for the upcoming BBL for the Australian teams (Brisbane Heat and Perth Scorchers).

Game 10 - Brisbane Heat V Chennai Super Kings
The match will be LIVE on ONE from 10.20pm. It is highly unlikely that either of the BBL teams will make it through to the finals which is expected to be all IPL teams that make it through.

Game 11 - Sunrisers Hyderabad V Titans
The game will follow directly after the clash of the Brisbane Heat and Chennai Super Kings game which will be a REPLAY as the game would have already finished ages ago by the time ONE gets to the game. But it won't be LIVE across Australia due to ONE's LIVE broadcast of MotoGP Qualifying from MotorLand Aragon,Spain.

Game 12 - Highveld Lions V Otago Volts
The game will be shown at 9.05pm directly after ONE's LIVE MotoGP from Aragon. It will sure be a cracker of a game as Otago Volts are the dominant forces of Group A. Their both games were abandoned when they were suppose to start to their CLT20 campaign.

Game 13 - Perth Scorchers V Rajasthan Royals
The game will be LIVE on TEN straight after the Graham Noron Show at 10.30pm. You have an option of watching both games simultaneously on ONE and TEN. This is a must win game for the Scorchers to remain in the hunt for the finals. But it will be hard against a extremely good side like the Royals.

ONE HD/Ten coverage of the 2013 NFL Season

NFL-On-Ten-Sport-One-HD                                                                  One HD and Ten have announced that they will be the official broadcaster of the 2013 NFL season and Superbowl in Australia. They are delighted to be broadcasting it after One has walked away from all sports which is now the 'Home of Sport, Action, Drama and Entertainment'.

I wonder what this means for NBA and MLB which was officially on One or it is currently showing on One.
