Rugby Union TV Deal

Biggest Broadcast Deal Takes Rugby Into The Future.
Fox Sports Remains The Home Of Rugby In Australia.
Network Ten Continues As Free-To-Air TV Broadcast Partner.
Fans will get to watch more Rugby in 2016, with the Australian Rugby Union (ARU) today announcing a new and significantly bigger media rights arrangement with foundation broadcast partner, FOX SPORTS, and free-to-air partner, Network Ten, for 2016-2020.

The improved deal will see FOX SPORTS continue as the home of Rugby in Australia and the only place to watch LIVE all Qantas Wallabies domestic Tests, New Zealand and South Africa domestic Tests, the expanded 18-team Asteron Life Super Rugby competition plus The Rugby Championship.

The new deal ensures the long-term future of the Buildcorp National Rugby Championship (NRC), with FOX SPORTS to remain the exclusive broadcaster of the competition. FOX SPORTS will also continue to broadcast the New Zealand and South Africa domestic competitions, the Mitre 10 Cup and Absa Currie Cup.

Network Ten will remain the Australian free-to-air broadcaster, finalising a deal with FOX SPORTS to simulcast all Qantas Wallabies domestic Tests, the Bledisloe Cup, and all matches played by the Qantas Wallabies in The Rugby Championship.

And for the first time, Network Ten will show a full replay of one Super Rugby match per round each Sunday morning with a start time between 8am and 11am and a onehour Super Rugby highlights show each Monday night.

Network Ten will also broadcast full replays of all Asteron Life Super Rugby finals matches featuring an Australian team.

FOX SPORTS CEO, Patrick Delany said: “It’s an exciting time for Rugby in Australia. The Wallabies RWC fairy-tale run has reignited Australia’s passion for the sport and FOX SPORTS will be the place to take Rugby into the future.

“As the foundation partner of the Super Rugby, we have been there from the beginning and our commitment and investment has been instrumental in securing the future of the sport and helping Australia return to a powerhouse force again.

“With an expanded Super Rugby competition, a highly-anticipated Test series against England at home, plus a growing domestic competition in the NRC, the future is bright for the sport and we are excited to continue as the home of Rugby in Australia,” Mr Delany said.

Network Ten Chief Executive Officer, Paul Anderson, said: “The new agreement strengthens and extends our commitment to Rugby and will bring more great matches to fans across the country.

“Rugby is a vital part of our premium sport content on Network Ten. We are delighted to be expanding our partnership with the Australian Rugby Union and FOX SPORTS to ensure viewers get the best possible coverage across all television.

“The Wallabies are on fire at the moment and we’re very excited about being part of their journey and success over the next five years,” he said.

REPORT: BIKES and V8s in calendar clash

V8 Supercars had finalised their calendar first before MotoGP, which has led to 2 massive clashes on the calendars. One is the Gold Coast 600 and the other is the Australian MotoGP.

Being on the same weekend will cause a massive headache for Network Ten who is committed to televising both on the main channel rather then One and Ten.

Fairfax has reported that discussions have been made with Dorna and AGPC to agree on some sort of arrangement that would enable Network Ten to show both live, without having the Australian MotoGP on One and Gold Coast 600 on Ten.

V8s have reportedly asked for the Phillip Island MotoGP race to be move forward from the 4pm time slot to 2pm or 3pm, which will allow the 300km race following the conclusion of the 45 minute motorcycle race to 3pm or 4pm.

Ten Sport has said they haven't decided on what they will do.

"We're looking at the scheduling issue and will announce our full motor sport scheduling in early 2016," a spokesperson said.

2016 ANZ Championship on Network Ten and ONE

In a surprising move Network Ten has announced it will move the ANZ Championship away from ONE into all markets except WA.

Network Ten is trying to build on the success of its coverage of the Netball World Cup which was a ratings hit for the network and FOX Sports.

“Following a review at the conclusion of the 2015 season, we’ve worked closely with our teams and broadcast partners, SKY Sport, FOX SPORTS and Network Ten, to deliver a season for the fans,” ANZ Championship General Manager Andy Crook said.

Network Ten will broadcast the 12.00 Afternoon slot live into all markets, except Perth who will get action on ONE.

In a boost for the league, Network Ten has confirmed that Thunderbirds matches will be shown live on free to air on Channel Ten, following a shift from One.

“The Thunderbirds will have unprecedented exposure on the national stage, with five of our fixtures shown live on free to air television in Australia, on Channel Ten” Scales said. “This is great news for our fans, our sponsors, and the sport in South Australia."

Seven Sponsors for TEN's Motorsport telecasts

Network Ten Announces V8 Supercars Sponsors.
V8 Supercars Return To TEN, The Home Of Big Event Motorsport.
Mark Webber And Matt White Lead Commentary Team.

Network Ten today announced the sponsors for its 2015 V8 Supercars season, which starts on TEN this Friday, February 27, with the Clipsal 500, live and free from Adelaide.

TEN’s coverage of one of the most iconic sports in Australia will be backed by some of the country’s biggest companies, including Supercheap Auto, Armor All, Shannons, Shell Helix, Penrite, Harvey Norman and Steel Blue Boots.

Network Ten will bring viewers the six biggest V8 Supercars Championship races: the Clipsal 500, Townsville 500, Sandown 500, Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000, Gold Coast 600 and Sydney 500. In addition, comprehensive highlights programs of the other V8 Supercars races will run on ONE and TEN on Saturdays and Sundays.

Matt White will lead the Network Ten motorsport commentary team along with recently retired Formula 1® legend Mark Webber, former Formula 1® World Champion winner Alan Jones and expert commentators Daryl Beattie, Rick Kelly, Mark Larkham and more.

Network Ten Chief Sales Officer, Louise Barrett, said: “We’re delighted to welcome Supercheap Auto, Armor All, Shannons, Shell Helix, Penrite, Harvey Norman and Steel Blue Boots to our V8 Supercars coverage and thank them for their support and passion.

“Network Ten will be the only place where advertisers and sponsors can reach viewers across the best six races, and the level of demand has been extraordinary. If people want to see the six biggest V8 Supercars events for free – starting with one of the most exciting races of the season, the Clipsal 500 in Adelaide – the only place to see them is on TEN.”

Network Ten Head of Sport, David Barham, said: “V8 Supercars are coming home to Network Ten in 2015, cementing our standing as the home of big event motorsport. Everyone at Ten is looking forward to bringing all the live action, thrills, drama and excitement of the biggest V8 Supercars events to all Australians on free-to-air television.

“Our expert commentary team – which includes Australian favourite, Mark Webber – ensures that our coverage of the V8 Supercars will be a first-class television experience for viewers.

“The return of the beloved magazine program RPM underlines our long-term commitment to motorsport. Week in, week out motorsport on Ten at Sundays, 4pm, clearly demonstrates our determination to deliver premium motorsport on free-to-air television,” he said.

Armor All Senior Vice President & Managing Director – Australia & New Zealand, Paul Blair, said: “Everyone at Armor All is excited to be teaming up with Network Ten for the V8 Supercars coverage.

“This year we are celebrating 10 years of sponsoring the V8 Supercars and, like Network Ten, motorsport is part of our DNA. We are confident that Network Ten will deliver an exciting experience for the viewers.”

Shannons Marketing Manager, Mark Behr, said: “We are very pleased to announce our sponsorship of Formula 1® and V8 Supercars on Network Ten. The free-to-air telecasts of Formula 1® and V8 Supercars are an important way for Shannons to connect with our motoring enthusiast customers. Shannons has a long association with F1 and V8s, in addition to our support of over 1,000 enthusiast events around Australia. We are really looking forward to this year's race season.”

Nick Lubransky, Shell Helix Brand Manager for Viva Energy, said: “Shell has had a long relationship with V8 Supercars in Australia and we are excited to see the return of V8 Supercars to TEN and to be a part of it.

“This relationship aligns with the recent announcement of our sponsorship with DJR Team Penske for the 2015 V8 Supercars Championship, where the iconic #17 Ford Falcon FG X driven by Marcos Ambrose will roll out onto the track in full Shell Helix livery at the Clipsal 500. I am a motorsport enthusiast, and so I am personally very excited that Shell Helix can be part of the Network Ten broadcast of such a great sport, and look forward to a great season of racing.”

Network Ten is set to transform Australian motorsport coverage in 2015 with guaranteed coverage 10 months of the year.

Network Ten will be the home of big event motorsport, bringing fans six live V8 Supercars Championship races, live Formula One races, live MotoGP races, V8 Supercars highlights programs and the return of Australia’s favourite motorsport panel show, RPM.

Netball Australia announces new broadcast deal

Netball Australia, in conjunction with FOX SPORTS and Network Ten, has announced a new Australian deal which will see more live netball broadcast than ever before.
The multi-platform deal will see Australian Diamonds international Tests and all 72 games of the ANZ Championship, including the new Conference Finals and ANZ Championship Finals Series, broadcast on FOX SPORTS and ONE via Network Ten for the next two years.
The new deal sits alongside FOX SPORTS and Network Ten’s partnership to broadcast the Netball World Cup SYDNEY 2015 in August.
“FOX SPORTS and Network Ten will take netball to more people than ever before,” Netball Australia CEO Kate Palmer said.
“In a landmark year for netball, this new broadcast deal positions the sport to ensure that more people are watching netball and attending games, that interest in netball continues to grow and athletes become better known and more connected with fans.
“This will have not only have an impact on our profile but also increase the number of participants across all forms of the game. It’s important for the health of the netball community and highlights the pathway for players across our system from ANZ NetSetGO to Diamonds.”
The sport returns to Network Ten for the first time since 2012. The free-to-air broadcaster previously held the Australian rights for four years from 2009 – 2012.
Network Ten Head of Sport, David Barham, said: “We are delighted to be returning the ANZ Championship to free-to-air television in 2015.
“This deal further demonstrates Network Ten’s commitment to live sport and is an important platform for women’s sport in Australia. The ANZ Championship showcases the best netballers in the world to fans all over the country.”New Australian broadcast deal announced

Kelly and 'Larko' join Network 10

Network TEN's Commentary Team - Larko, Mark Webber, Matt White

Network Ten is delighted to announce that current V8 Supercars driver Rick Kelly and former
driver and expert commentator Mark Larkham will join TEN Sport’s Matt White and Formula One
legend Mark Webber to complete the commentary line-up for the 2015 V8 Supercars season on TEN.
With just two weeks to go until the Clipsal 500 returns to television screens around the country, fans
can look forward to extensive motorsport coverage on TEN in 2015, with a consistent 10-month
program schedule anchored by some of the biggest names in the business.
Kelly, 2006 V8 Supercars Champion and two-time Bathurst 1000 winner, will provide expert analysis
in the commentary box in between racing for Nissan Motorsport, bringing a unique insight to viewers
and adding another dimension to TEN’s broadcast of V8 Supercars.
Commenting on his new association with Network Ten, Kelly said: “I am really excited to be working
with Network Ten. During my career, I’ve had the opportunity to experience some really great things,
but I’ve never worked with a television network before. It’s definitely going to be a new challenge.
“This is a chance for me to develop my skills and push myself a bit further. I want to deliver
interesting, insightful comments from a current driver’s perspective for the viewers to enjoy.
“I have some very fond memories of the great work Network Ten has done with motorsport in
general and V8 Supercars specifically, including my championship winning year in 2006,” he said.

Larkham, a former V8 Supercars driver and team owner, competed in 279 V8 races between
1995 and 2004. His illustrious career, which included significant success in open wheelers, then saw him
move into commentary and hosting with Seven Network, where he was popular with V8 fans around the
county.
Larkham’s involvement with Network Ten will see him provide pit lane commentary and technical analysis throughout the race weekends. He will also be a regular contributor to the relaunched motorsport panel
show, RPM.
Larkham said: “To be involved in this next chapter of motorsport broadcasting was a nobrainer for me.
“I feel an overwhelming obligation to the multitude of motorsport viewers who have absolutely
humbled me with their support, warmth and desire for me to surface as part of the TEN motorsport team.
“In addition, the opportunity to work with Mark [Webber] and importantly my old work buddy Matty White,
whom for me is the consummate broadcast host, were both important considerations. I can’t wait.”
Network Ten Head of Sport, David Barham, said: “The addition of Kelly and Larkham to TEN’s
commentary team ensures that our coverage of the V8 Supercars will be a first-class television
experience for viewers.
“Having the likes of Mark Webber, Matt White and now Rick Kelly and Mark Larkham is tremendous.
It underlines our long-term commitment to motorsport, while strengthening our ability to deliver a
breadth and depth of coverage that will be unrivalled.”
Network Ten is set to transform Australian motorsport coverage in 2015 with guaranteed viewing for
 40 weeks of the year.
Network Ten will be the home of big event motorsport, bringing fans six live V8 Supercars Championship
races, live Formula One races, live MotoGP races, eight V8 Supercars highlights programs and the
return of Australia’s favourite motorsport panel show, RPM.
The V8 Supercars commentary team will commence official duties at the Clipsal 500 in Adelaide this
month followed by the Townsville 500, Sandown 500, Bathurst 1000, Gold Coast 600 and Sydney 500.
